Bridge to replace Badass V?

Why do you want lower mass? Is the baddass too zingy sounding to you? Thats the thing about Baddass bridges, the treble zingyness. Replaceing it with nice hipshot, gotoh, or schaller high mass bridge would give more even smoother tone from lows thru highs.

However, it your gonna use a bridge whose screw holes dont line up with current bridge holes. Just make sure none of the new holes will be so close to old holes to possibly cause break in body wood between the holes. Line new bridge up, and mark where screw holes go and drill new ones for new bridge. Id also first fill the old holes with glue or wood filler dipped toothpicks or somesuch first. Its also possible a couple ofm the old holes will be in right place to use with new bridge and you just need to drill new holes for the other 2-3 holes.

i like the fender USA bass bridges with the string-through-body option. low-mass, rock-solid because of the string-through anchoring, and some string width adjustability to get the spacing right.

the bridge is going to make a subtle difference.

by "zingy", do you mean bright? what kind of pots and pickups are in there? with passive pickups, a move from 500k pots to 250k pots will make a bigger difference in reducing brightness than the bridge will.

Describing the difference bridge mass makes is hard. I've done the swap the other way once or twice and found that I hear a softer attack, less sustain, and woodier tone with less mass, more clarity/zing/sustain but sometimes less personality with higher mass. Just wanted to hear it on this bass. Do you think that bridge has too much mass to get the bent-plate sound?

I've done the 250k/500k swap in this bass and found it to be VERY subtle in terms of what I'm interested in. Its 500k now, but I'm not really motivated to swap back since its so minor. Its just a little resonance change up top, doesn't change the attack or the overall tone much at all to me.
