Bright, aggressive strings?

I used those for a few years. My fave stainless for the past while are the Ken Smith taperwounds.

I break rotos like twine.

Dean markley blue steals, aggressive and the brightest sounding strings Ive tried. Rotos are nice and agressive but not as bright as most stainless strings.

Which set is more aggressive? The trubass or the swing bass? I only have those to choose from because they are the only 6 string sets they make that I've seen.

Bright and agressive are pretty much the opposite of the trubass strings.

There you have the Rotos and Blue Steel comparision (the same gauge) recorded stright into computer. Dean Markley are IMO brighter but Rotos much more agressive in real playing.

Thanks for that. Would I be correct in assuming the first clip is the blue steels?

Rotos seem to maintain that nice mid "GURT" to me...Much more important than the initial "Zing" in my opinion...

Elixir coated strings are bright and they stay bright sounding longer than any other non-coated strings I have tried. I used to think that coated strings were just hype until I actually tried some. They may be a little more expensive than most other brands, but for me they are worth it.

DR Hi Beams for me ... i dont think i'd be switching brands anymore.

I know I like DRs. I use the Marcus Miller Fat beams right now and I like them, I just need a more aggressive tone. So the hi-beams or lo-riders are nice and aggressive? I've used Rotosound in the past, and liked them, but I've been using DR for a while. I guess I'll just have to give both a try.

To my ears, the brightest, most aggressive strings I've tried are the DR Hi-Beams. They're closer to the "ringing piano string" sound than other strings and I believe they hold their tone very well.

They're actually a bit too bright for me so my regular strings are the Marcus Miller Fat Beams - still bright but a bit mellower with a more complex tone, IMO.

Funny, I came on the string forum looking for the same thing... Now I mostly play D'Addarios... how would prosteels stack up in terms of brightness?
