Brightest Nickel wounds???

Check out the Sound Clip thread, we've posted clips of just about ever nickel round wound under the sun.

Personally, I'd recommend GHS Progressives, they're pretty dang bright and open.

E.B. Cobalt rounds are supposed to be crazy bright, but Cobalt is mildly harder than Nickel.
Not nearly as hard as Stainless, however.

I just switched to Pure Blues from the NYXL's and I prefer the Pure Blues hands down. I felt the NYXL's lacked definition and any zing.

The Pure Blues can do the Nickel smooth, but still seem to have good SS like definition when pushed. I like the tension on the PB's as well.

I used to use the Dunlop Super Brights be found them hard to intonate and too floppy for my taste.

I used Superbrights for maybe 3 years. But basically every pack I ever bought, had micro kinks in 1 or more of the strings. I got tired of that. And yeah, I found they were a bit too floppy when it came time for serious business.
Great tone, though. Nickel and stainless.

IMO, Pure Blues also sound great and beat Superbrights in manufacture quality, feel (lack of flop), and balance and consistency of both feel and tone, from string to string. Best .130 B.

Interesting note about the NYXLs.

I'm a fan of SIT Silencers and have used some of their other strings, in the past. I would try their new Foundations series, if I needed a new string. Or just go back to Foderas....

More open and brighter? Sounds like the definition of stainless steel strings to me.

If nickel is a requirement then Dunlop Super Brights. Or if you can find them, Pedulla Nickels.

I agree. Ken Smith strings if I remember correctly are pretty bright as well.

Edit: Another thought, what about Rotosound Roto Bass?

I would say that D'addario XL nickel rounds are pretty bright.

I'm not sure about NEW XLs, but I have noticed those seem to sound pretty good even when they're old.
