Broaden my mind about a new bass!

I know! TB hype is what got me into this situation in the first place. I got an SX PJ to see how it compares to my American PJ, and (other than the tuners, which are indeed rubbish) I like the SX better! So now I have two almost identical basses, and don't know what to do with myself!

The rule in my household is to not spend any extra money on gear at this point, so do I sell or trade the Am. PJ for new gear, or do I admit I have a problem and stop immediately! :help:

Well, I've got a 55-02 as well, and I can tell you that they're not bad axes. The 35" scale (on the 5ver) might throw you a bit for the first little while... or might not. different people have different experiences. Mine was almost seamless.

You'll get a whole bunch of different tones out of the 55-02.

The synth thing is supposed to be a lot more simple than Godin's website makes it out to be. Just find a box that connects via 13 pins and you *should* be good to go. The reason *I'm* interested in exploring it is that I have song ideas that use intros that I don't play, but going through MIDI into Garageband, I can lay a 'banjo' track or whatever without buying a banjo (I just pulled an example out of the aether, here).

YMMV. I'm going purely on what I read, as I still haven't upgraded to an SA version of my A5.

I had my yamaha RBX170 for 3 years (4 counting this past Jan.)

I heard of ATK's though and how they can emualte three basses. The P the J and the stingray. It does all of 'em great and I'd highly suggest you get one.
OR at the very least try one. They come in 4 and 5 strings. They cost $500 - $550.

Yeah, I've been eyeing the one they've got on clearance on MF. Is the single coil/humbucker one similar to a Lakland 44/02?

Spector Legend.

If you're willing to spend some money to upgrade to the EMG TW pickups and an Aguilar OBP-3 (should put you right around $900), you will not be happier. Incredibly versatile and can probably cop a P/J tone if that's what you want, but it's got all the awesome presence, versatility, and tone-shaping of an active bass w/ two humbuckers.
