Double Bass Broken Anima E, Advice Please!

The winding part of the Anima, Garbo and Blue can go on the tuning machines, they are tested to handle that (however this doesnt mean that once in a while a string cant break,we test and re-test both the silk cores at the begining of the production and then the strings but sometimes there are some tiny imperfections on the silk core that are not visible, we always try to get the best quality silk available, but nobody cant say a string will never break, however , i can tell you that the number of breakages has really come down in the last years... sure our strings cant be so resistant as steel strings, but we try our best to make the best sounding and most resistant string giving the possibilities of the materials.)
To the people who prefer to have only the thread around the tuning machines, you dont need a special tailpiece, what you can do to shorten the string is to do the loop 2 times, i know its kind of hard to explain, but i will try to make a picture or maybe a little video, i have some pictures to show how to extend the strings lenght for bigger basses, but i still dont have the pics that show how to shorten the lenght. if you do the loop twice, you will shorten the string a bit and in many cases this will avoid the winding part of the string of going into the tuning machine.

As I see it, there is only benefit if the top of the TP curves in line with the saddles, right?

Bobby, I had my Animas wound around the tuning pegs and never had breakage, used them for 1 year and still have them.

Nuno, can you shorten the threat at the tailpiece by cutting it and tying it to the usual kind of ball that many stringmakers use? Or is a long thread an essential ingredient here?

just got my replacement E and G anima strings from velvet. fast! only took a couple of days. I just want to give a big "thumbs up" to Nuno and Velvet.
