Bronco Bass strings & new winding length on short scale Sunbeams?

I'm interested in finding strings for my Bronco bass that will cover a wide range of tones for my cover band - I have a Bartolini MMC Original pickup in this bass so it will go-down-low! I'm currently using D'Addario EXL 100's and they are fine but I'm always interested in checking out others. I read some older posts on Sunbeams that said the winding length is 33.75" - too long for the Bronco but the DR website today says the winding length is 33" which is right at the tuner post. Any recent experience with these on a Bronco? I welcome any non-flatwound string recommendations? Thx

Just for clarification...

DR shortened the winding length on the E string on their "short scale" sets from 33.75" down to 33" within the last couple of years. A, D and G remain at 33.75".
