I recently bought the P15 which sounds great but for those of you had tried both the P15 and the SSDI, which sounds better overall in your opinion? I can see where the mid knob on the SSDI could make a big difference. The P15 can be a bit scooped. I know they are different tone stacks, but does the SSDI give you a more clean tube sound?

Congratulations. There's some info just a few pages back:

Sooooooo. OUR Mr. Shaggy's SSDI on its way to me :hyper: Super excited! I knew I wouldn't be able to rest until I got to try one of the lunchboxes. haha.

I will be using the SSDI mostly for recording. I've done a fair amount of reading on it, but if anyone has any tips, let me know! Thanks folks :)

Unrelated, but I still really want to try a SV or SVD if anyone has one of those around. Maybe gassing for some new gear and need some cash? Maybe a trade? I know I should post that in the WTB section or post something in the classifieds For Trade.... And I will. Just thought I'd throw it out to the group here first. That's the last you'll hear of it in here.

For more mids, turn down the Bass/Treble.

I found the P15 to be quite punchy in the mids with the EQ adjusted accordingly.

Generally, with regular input levels, the P15 is very clear up till about noon, on all knobs, if you have a way to bring the volume up post preamp you will soon realize this, decent mids can be had as well if you treat it like a typical 2 band EQ. That being said, SSDI is clearer, more powerful sounding, and makes more of statement imo. And as always I stand behind, the P15 is more fun but I find myself using the SSDI for more applications, it is totally worth having both, they are different enough to where one won't sit on the desk looking pretty not get used, I bounce back and forth reg. Its hard to really compare the two, 2 different tubes, 2 different stacks, and seriously if I had to have one it would be the SSDI, any decent vintage EQ > SSDI can get close, to the P15, but I would seriously miss the P15
