Broughton Audio Super Thread

I ran a p-15->s1 setup for a while and then Covid happened and I sold my p-15 because I wasn’t sure if I was going to have a job.

Then I got to keep my job and traded the s1 for another p-15.

I’m currently running p15->rfe
I'm sure you tried it before the p15 right? Using the shaping tools after would definitely be better, but did you experience anything bad compared to your final setup? I'm going to try it post tonight and see, I love what they all do, I'm just having a problem hearing the clarity of the P15 breakup, might even be the bass, there's a few variables with this. Anyway, thanks all for the responses

I don’t recall hearing anything bad before the p-15. We all have different setups and ears though.

Another fun thing to do is run the solarian and sunray in parallel.

@Lowendtech Alright, SB2 taking the plunge tonight, let's see what these are all about

P-15 in API plugin is a nice thing for sure - went for the new Lindell Audio a few weeks ago, pretty killer btw.

Diggin' tone i get from these. Even if P15 lows are super defined, SB adds some clarity there, and extra sparkle and roundness at the same time in the upper-end. I was surprised first with SB, expecting more transformer transformation, but the magic's not there ! Keeper.

Now THAT I would like to hear some sound clips of.
It actually sounds pretty good! I brought it out to the big local folk festival back in 2019 (pre-covid) and used it around the camp fire a bunch. it projects really well, much louder than an ABG. It's a real beast to carry around though. There's things I'd change if I did it again, but it works!

I have an old set of GHS Precision Flats on it right now, which sound MUCH better than the scrap Rotosounds I put on when I first assembled it. It's surprisingly got a lot of top end to it though, which is why I'm looking for nylon flats. I think I also have the drum tuned a bit too tight as well. I'll tweak it again when summer rolls around.

Have you been to the Winnepeg Folk Festival? My wife and I were planning a road trip to it a few years back then we got pregnant...

Yup, that's the one! I go every year pretty much regardless of everything short of a global pandemic. It's always a great time, even if you're not terribly familiar with many of the bands. Still no word on if it's happening this year.

Funny, we've talked about roadtripping to the west coast for festivals. PM me any time if you want to discuss! It's a very family-friendly environment ;)

Oh cool! I randomly came across a youtube video of the festival and thought that would be a cool one to attend. Oh the times when you could get in a car and drive anywhere...

We have a bunch of great festivals in the Norcal. We have big ones like Bottlerock, Outsidelands and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass (Free). Small ones like Kate Wolf Festival, High Sierra Festival, Cali Roots and Monterey Jazz Fest. I can't recommend Bottlerock enough though. One year I was eating snow crab cheese fries and paella and drinking a fine cab while watching Robert Plant. It was quite the experience!
