Broughton Audio Super Thread

Has there been interest in an "official" Broughton Audio club on Talkbass? I don't really know how that works on this website, but it seems like there is definitely enough interest in the gear to warrant such a thing.
Stop trying to get us to join you in your emotional affair. Why isn't this thread satisfying for yo?

I recently got rid of my Green Russian RI because I just had to come to terms with the fact that it doesn't do what I want it to for bass. I need the clean low end...
Should have kept it, I had a Bluebeard fuzz I thought the same about it, until I got a FFXloop. Fixed all the lowendless problems with any pedal that ailed the same. Just not the same as a clean blend too

Got to get the Calamity back into rotation. I’ve got so much fuzz and muffs sometimes I wish they were all blue tooth and I could just use/try pedals instantly without wires and effort etc. from the drawer.
MBD2 with the +20dB switch engaged might just kick the Bluebeard back onto the shelf. Especially for doing the synthy octave>fuzz type thing… The tone is pretty wild.

I have an SV-Pre but recently bought a v-4b reissue with a 210, if there is any interest I am in need of a equal value or cash on my end compressor. Just throwing it out there in case someone is looking.
I can relate, I've owned a couple V4Bs (and SVTs) over the years and recently got a Benson Gnostic and have found my need for preamp / light drive pedals went away.

Tube heads have an amazing ability to produce "tube-like" breakup. It has helped clean up my boards a bit and settle into a simpler setup without ODs and just octave / mod / synth / fuzz.

Too bad the fuzz journey is a black hole. Add me to the list that want to try a Calamity.

I'm the same way, I prefer drive from a valve over JFET staging any day. Most of my "dirts' consists of Fuzz and octave/fuzz. I prefer hugely the drive that the P15 and archetype produce over some of the over drive pedals, not that they don't sound good, that's just the drive I like. Even the Sunray can do a rad fuzz I can't get out of any of these other fuzz pedals. Only pedal that has that tube like breakup and warmth, is the Azure Drive into a FXloop, ultra creamy smooth breakup with that one.

I’d still love to try an AD. Back in the day, I remember looking at them while they were in stock on Josh’s shelf and wondered why I would need such a thing. And didn’t put it in my cart. Now I think I’d even trade my LS for one.

More progress...I actually really like these sans-typography (not least of which because the thought of matching all the fonts makes my head explode)...

@kazuhank, Just yanking your chain a little, of course.
I've always been curious about that Benson bass amp. Pretty rare bird, IIRC. I was looking at it pretty hard, but I ended up buying a Verellen Meatsoke instead.
I'm just glad you got the thick sarcasm I was laying down.

I was trying to convince another bass player that subs in one of the bands I was touring with to sell me his Benson, but ended up finding a guy that worked there who was listing his locally (I'm about a mile from Benson's shop). It behaves a lot like an SVT but in a 40 lb., smaller package. You can also swap out the power tubes to lower or raise the wattage. Mine is currently running 260W.

I was really impressed with Verellen - I saw Helms Alee a few times a couple of summers ago and all their heads were Verellen.

That makes sense, given that Helm's Alee's guitar player is Ben Verellen.
Or was that more sarcasm? lol
