Broughton Audio Super Thread

I had no idea auto refreshers were such arcane knowledge :D I’m getting the impression some aren’t happy I posted that as it could mean it might be harder for everyone to get a future pedal.

Truth is they aren't fast enough. It's seemingly why Josh added the email alert. Folks were leveraging tech for an unfair advantage so Josh leveled the playing field by alerting anyone who wants to be alerted the instant they are available for purchase.

The irony is that if you aren't already on the page when that email is sent, then you already missed it. It's like reading "they are live" in the thread. If you are here reading that, then they are already sold out (probably).

I am just saying is that if you figured out a trick that works for you, posting it in the thread will end your trick's efficacy.

I’m sure josh could probably block auto refreshers. They probably have their own User-Agent tag and it wouldn’t be that difficult to block that with the .htaccess file or simple script.

I’ve thought about using one but I just do it the old fashioned way and kill the refresh button.
Extension based refreshers should be undetectable from the request (it’s still a normal chrome browser making the request), but the regular refresh pattern is definitely detectable, just takes a bit more work.

I’m going to try a lazier solution this Friday (without buying of course, I already have one). Lazy == good

Just good ol fashion methods here. No fancy electronic extraordinary tip offs. Never had any problems really. Except that infernal Sunray :dead:
Admittedly I’ve gotten a little help from my friends along the way.

Yes the sunray was brutal. That’s the only one I didn’t get on drop day. Except for the calamity but I was at work so it was a no go. But friends come to the rescue!

edit:

And the locust star & rfe now that I think about it. Good people in this thread.

On snagging an Omni:

What worked for me (on the second try) in the US Eastern time zone was to get up about 6 am, open a window for Gmail and another window for the Omni product page, and keep an eye on the screen for new email while I slurped some coffee. When the back-in-stock email hit (around 7 am, IIRC), I switched to the product page and placed the order. Mighta just got lucky, I dunno...

I wonder how many more weeks josh is going to be pumping out omnicomps.
This week will likely be the last, assuming I can finish a little bigger batch. I have more parts on order to make more, but I'll be taking a break from this for a short while and work on other projects. Next is Maestro.
