Just curious if anyone here uses the Broughton Resonant Filter Equalizer pedal in a live setting? The past few gigs I've had, it seemed like I was getting too much rumble in the low-end, but when I turn down the bass on my amp's preamp, I lose too much in the important frequency range (50hz and up). When recording, I usually run a high-pass filter so that it cuts off at around 50hz to reduce any subharmonics that can muddy the signal, and then bump up at the cutoff to accentuate the frequency. I do the same with low-pass where I'll cutoff at between 1.5k - 2.5k and then bump up the resonance. It looks like the Broughton pedal can do exactly this, but not sure if it will make much of a difference live. Thoughts?

This is a typical eq that I'll use with my recorded bass, which cleans it up nicely (notice the cutoff of the high pass filter with a resonant bump). I do add a bit of multiband compression and saturation in the signal chain as well.

It can do precisely this, and even more with the variable mid EQ. I use only the simple Broughton HPF, and even that makes a difference in my live performance; the RFE will no doubt be an even more useful tool!

I really want one of these! I have, and love, the Broughton HPF + LPF. The additional functionality of this unit looks really nice. Anyone out there know when these might become available again?
Best to go to the RFE's page on the Broughton site and sign up for notifications for when the pedal is back in stock. Josh will also list on the site when it's ready to drop. Usually 2 weeks notice. Also, pay attention to the Broughton thread for hints as to to when it will drop.
Be forewarned, the RFE will sellout quickly once dropped. So sign up and pay attention if you really want one.

I'll be making a big batch early next year.

I'd need a lesson on how to use it. Had one, only managed to make myself sound worse with it.
Start out with high and low pass top row knobs at 0 boost and cut. (Around 8 o’clock ish) and mid top row set straight up to 0 boost or cut.

Adjust the bottom row high and low frequency knobs like you would a normal high or low pass filter (basically what they are with corresponding top row set Nuetral), then try boost the top row resonance controls a touch for highs and lows.

Start small and season to taste, a little goes a long way.

Then cut or boost top mid control a bit depending on what you are shooting for, and sweep the mid frequency knob back and forth to find the best frequency, and fine tune your mid boost or cut amount again afterwards.
