Brownies with chocolate chips

Whenever brownies are mentioned, I get… flashbacks to…

Pamela_Britton_Ray_Walston_My_Favorite_Martian_1963.jpg

the synony-Mrs. Brown — ie: "Would you like a brownie?" :wacky:

Just don't bake them too much. Nothing worse than overdone (cake-like) brownies.

At a quick glance, I'd swap out more of the flour for cocoa in that recipe.

Yeah... The first time I ever tried "special" brownies my friend used twice the water and it ended up tasting like a fluffy Christmas tree with chocolate ornaments. Baking is a science people.

I only dig chocolate chips when they're white or dark chocolate, and even then it's nice to maybe toss in walnuts or something else. In my mind, they should either be normal brownies or you should go crazy and throw everything in them you can.

Just my $0.01 (nothing I say is ever worth two cents).

In the OP rant, you failed to mention the most disgusting brownie variant: chocolate brownie with chocolate chips and chocolate frosting topped with chocolate shavings. Save yourself the trouble and take a big swig of this:

I will admit that in the past I have done several "shots' of Hershey syrup straight from the squeeze bottle followed by a milk chaser straight from the jug. :)

But, I LIKE chocolate chips in my Alice B. Toklas brownies....

I hope your brownies are perfect every time.

Right on!
A brownie should be gooey chocolate blend between cake and a tart.
I hate crunching on chips and nuts.

You forgot about too many nuts, or nuts at all.
Nothing worse than being excited to chew on something only to have nuts in it. :banghead:

I am ok with nuts to a degree, but having suffered through all these chips for so long, I understand and I am on your side.

While I guess it's in the same family, this is my favorite take on the traditional brownie. The batter is more brown sugar than chocolate and done right it's soft, almost gooey in the middle, and the flavor of the bar is complimented by a few chocolate chips and nuts. My mom always used chopped roasted pecans

As awful as those look, I might be inclined to eat my way to the bottom of the plate if I encountered them in the wild. :roflmao:

IMO there is no such thing as too much chocolate! I have made these a few times and they are divine!

My heart breaks when I see those.

With or without chocolate chips, I never met a well-made brownie I didn't like. ;)

Now we're talkin.

As a unrepentant chocolate freak, I kneel before the Dark Master. With nuts, without nuts, cakey, thick and chewy, frosted or not. Dusted with confectionary sugar. Top them with sugar and hit with a propane torch for a crusty top, whatever. To me, brownies are like basses. There is a right kind for every different gig. What’s the best brownie for metal? Who cares, just bring some and rock those ‘effers!!!
I can’t believe I haven’t seen one of my favorite brownie custom mods show up here yet...So simple, yet so devastatingly delicious...Coffee drool
But for doG’s sake...I cannot abide by either of the the twin abominations...MINT, or TORT.

Mocha brownies are a rare treat. Mint brownies (to me) usually signal that you are in some sort of country club where everyone is completely out of touch with reality. I like the Kahlua idea that was posted above.
