Brubaker Brute Club, Part 2

Oh yeah, also philly, I noted you mentioned this in your review, and see in your pic, that neck looks VERY noticeably thinner along thee entire neck on the SC than on the standard. Would you care to take a few width measurements - at the nut, 12th, and last fret for me/us? And maybe Tom can answer if this is the same as on the upcoming production models, or just on the limited first run ones?

5 string standard Brute is 1.75 at the nut, Single cut is 1.7 at the nut. Both are 19mm at bridge. Sort of the Precision/jazz thing.

This made me have to check my Brute vs. my US KXB-5, and I learned something new. My KXB has a 1.7" nut. Hmmm, I always wondered why I like the feel of that one just a little bit more than my Brute. So it's the width, black satin paint on the back, and just maybe the 5/8" extra scale length (but IMO thats hardly noticeable). Another +1 to add to decision to pick up one of the SC's for me.

Thanks for this little tidbit of info Tom!

Something else to add in your decision making. Just look at the detail necessary to pull off the SC.

Christmas season is always busy for everyone - you'll see this thread explode as soon as SC's are really available.

I heard from a reliable source that the new production SC's will have a new bridge, different than current Brutes. More Hipshot like and supposedly better.

Hey y'all. If you can pick up one of these Single Cuts get one. I'm slapping on mine right now and she sounds so sweet. And if you put some high end pickuos and a pre in thiis bass you'd be straight up killin. This is no Joke. IMO this bass is Da Bomb!!!

Anyone Running their 5 string Brute E-A-D-G-C? I've been thinking about getting one for this purpose and was wondering if anyone has done this and what their thoughts were on it?

I did it with one. Was just fine. Like anything else, just needed the proper setup. But then again, I am no Matt Garrison.

I put it back to BEADG because these basses have a great low b, which is hard to find.

Yes, they are still being made, but they are not yet available. It will be a little longer before they come out, I'm getting one for sure!!

My favorite place is The High Studio, other people suggest other places.

Yeah I deal with Donovan Bankhead of fretspot.com. He also deals in high end basses and tecamp products. I like it because it is essentially a one man operation and I get personal attention. While others are waiting on a Brute Single Cut. I already have one.
