Brubaker Brute Club, Part 2

I will definitely report back with photos, and I am planing to do a before and after youtube vid too! It will be a few weeks before I get a Brute and a few weeks after that before I get it de-freted, but I will keep you posted.
Thanks again for all the help in answering my questions.

I heard that Brubaker may be offering fretless necks as an option iin the not too distant future.

Really? Cool, where did you hear that? Do you have any idea how distant future we might be talking?

PM Tom Richards. He is Brand Manager for Brubaker Brutes at AP INternational. He is also on TB. Date TBD. Maybe soemtime in 2013?

Well, if its anything like the SC Brutes, maybe it will be sometime in 2015.... :rollno:

Ouch! But sadly this appears to be the case, atleast with the way this first run has been. Anyway, I hope they get all the overseas and distribution "glitches" resolved soon, as they are superior basses, over anything at a similar price-point, and, dare I say, nearly anything else coming in at even double the price.

My SC is with Donovan Bankhead's tech getting a coil splitter put in. I am expecting it to be shipped in the very near future. As I understand it, there were some problems that had to be worked out at the factory. Once they get it right, they will be awessome basses for the money. Donovan indicated to me that my SC is the nicest sub 1k bass he's played. Many hands have touched mine so in essence IMO it's a proto/demotype. Mine is what they'll be with the bugs worked out. Kevin Brubaker worked on it, Kevin Walker played it and wanted it, Donovan played it and liked it, Tom Richards played it. and now a tech is working on it. I'll post pictures and put something up on youtube when I get it. To add, my particular SC is/was used in the Brubaker adds in the Nov Bass Player, and the Holiday Gear Guide.

Now now Azz, it ain't that bad. :;)

Lots of things in the works. And as you personally know, we don't skimp on QC.

Since I have a little time, lined or unlined guys? Can really only do one.

The best QC and CS in the bass business!!

My vote - lined. As someone who has never played much fretless, I think I'd be lost without them. :o

But, I don't need a vote because . . . :D

Got quite a bit of work to do as I have to sand down and re-coat the board as the 2 component polyurea/aspartic coating I used was old, off the "left-overs" shelf at work, and it didn't set up hard enough. Might have to go the epoxy route, or hope we'll have some fresh stuff left over at work in the near future. Then I have to decide what preamp, what kind of pickguard, hardware upgrades maybe, on and on . . . It'll be a good winter project for me. :)

This does not bother me as I'll know the bass will be right when I get it. Plus it's neat to know I'll have one of the first basses off the bench. I have not seen this yet but here goes. And we all know that Kevin and Tom would not send that bass out if it wasn't right. I have been invited to give a clinic for the Virginia Bass Forum and I'll be taking both of my Brutes with me.

I prefer lined.

Hey guys I'm curious. which would you prefer or be more likely to buy. A headless 4 string Brute or a headless 5 string Brute?

Hi brutes !
I'm coming back at you. I bought my MJX5 in 2010 (it's serial is 00060!) and I used to change the jb pick up for a Crel and the pre for a Glckenklang.
I'm now totally satisfied !!

But I have a request for the other brute's owner...
I need to replug the original pre for another use (I actualy want to plug it on my upright bass!)
BUt I don't remember the original plug of it... how was the pickup wire plugged wis the battery and the circuit, how was jack out put etc...
Please could a pleasant soul draw me the circuit ?
Thanck you so mutch...
