Brubaker Brute Club, Part 2

Does anyone know where I can get a pickguard for a Brute JJX-4 ? I did a search and did not really find any answers. I emailed Brubaker they have not gotten back to me. The one that was on it has been ruined, and I would not be able to use it even to make a tracing to send to custom pickguard shop.

Sure would appreciate some help. I don't play fours much anymore, but the Brute is what I grab when I do need one.

The big difference in the SC feel is the neck since its matte-black finished in the rear vs. natural finish. Also the SC the body is made from Ash instead of Alder so it "hits" a bit harder, and is a bit more defined.

I'm looking at Aguilar or Nordstand pickups for an MJX-5. Can they both just drop in size-wise? I haven't seen anyone who has put Aguilar's in these yet and so I was curious if there was any experience with these? I found a clip of their jazz pickups w/ a Bartonoli preamp and it sounded SO poppy and good!

The single cut neck is not as wide as the double cut. The SC is totally different beast than the DC.

My Brute Single Cut is getting a Pup and Pre upgrade. Bart 59CBCJD-LN1 (dual coil JB Pup), Bart Classic Bass MM Pup and HR4.6 AP Preamp. I already have the MM Pup and will be ordering the J Pup and Pre this Friday. Then she'll be a very nice little SC indeed. I'm going all Bart as I was recently accepted as a Bartolini Emerging Artist. Bartolini and Dana B. Goods treat their Artists very well. Honored and Humbled to be an offically recognized Bart Artist.

It didn't sell and is relisted as buy it now for the same price (seller put the shipping costs in the price and said free shipping). The time is now right for me to buy... I wish I could play one before I pulled the trigger, but I checked all the links on their web site and can't find a store that has them.

Well, all parts have been ordered for the white Brute SC. As a Bart EA went all Bart. Bart HR4.6 AP Pre, DL5CBC MM PUP, 59CBJD-LN1 JB NECK PUP. I already have the DL5CBC in my possession. Should be sweet when I'm done and no my tech is doing the install :-)

I'd love to hear your review of that once they are in. I've got a Brute that I've been thinking of doing a pickup and preamp upgrade to. If you had the ability to record a quick and dirty before and after, that would be a great thing to post here for others thinking of changing out their electronics.
