I imagine they probably would. I'd guess that being an overseas production model, the pickup dimensions on the Brute 4 and 5 string versions are probably the same. I remember physically measuring the stock pickups, then comparing the measurements on the JX set right from the PDF's on EMG's website. They appeared to be an exact match and I installed everything myself after ordering without much difficulty. I'm not a skilled luthier and it was my first time attempting my own install. Take a tape measure to your current pickups, then see if EMG'S measurements look the same.
Yup everything seems to check out measurement wise. I hope the pickup can pick up all 5 strings.
It will certainly be able to. Being a bar style magnet system, it will have the coverage you need.

You guys notice that finding a Brute anymore, is almost impossible, unless you want single cut?
Hello Brubaker club dudes. I'm planning on purchasing a used Brubaker KXB-4 short scale but have found very little information about them on the interwebs. I'm certain it will play like butter and sound great with it's Barteloni pickups.
I have a couple questions I haven't found answers to. Neck width and head dive.
Are Brubaker KXB-4 necks standard? If so can someone point me to dimensions?
Also, can someone tell me how it balances on a strap and when sitting? I have a real issue with basses that don't balance on a strap at a gig and when sitting for practice. The reason I'm concerned is the forward strap button is at the 14th fret and the lower bout horn just looks short to me.

I’d be surprised if you had that problem with a quality bass not named Fender. Of course, my feedback is conjecture and certainly doesn’t answer your question. It may lead to further discussion, however!

A Brubaker short scale would be custom, so answers about Brubakers or KXBs, generally, don't necessarly address this bass. There could be a lot going on that I'm not aware of, but just hearing KXB short-scale makes me think that would be one the the builds done for Dave T, and if so, it is very light, well balanced and has a narrow neck. You'd have to get the dimensions from the seller or as was just mentioned, Kevin and the company are very responsive. I'm sure with a pic, he could tell you what you want to know.
And if you are buying from Dave, then you are no doubt getting an incredible deal from a great guy.
Hello there. So the reason I am writing this is to figure out if I should be a member of this club. I bought a bass that looks like a b-stock Brubaker MJX-5 last weekend. It was bargain. Although it has no stock number on the back, and this has gotten me rather worried. It also have various problems-- B string thumps on higher frets, and the instrument is very noisy in higher volumes. But overall the instrument does sound and feel good, especially the neck, which is remarkably comfortable. This does seem to be in-line with online reviews.
I got this bass from a luthier in Istanbul, Turkey, who said that he got a bunch of Brubaker basses from China, and that he did some repair work, and modifications on the bass. The luthier himself is locally reputable, even famous for his custom guitars and basses, but obviously this does not mean that he did not get Chinese knock-offs, and that he sold one to me.

Mine doesn't have string-thru body, and does have a coil-tap switch for the humbucker. Everything else looks more or less correct--aside from the missing serial number. From what I can find online, in its earlier days, the Brute didn't have the coil tap switch, but it didn't have string-thru-body either. And the pickups didn't have the white writing on them for that earlier version. So who knows, hopefully someone at Brubaker can give you the low-down.
I remember the stock pickups and preamp were a little bit noisy but not too bad. As for the B string on higher frets, those are flatwounds, right? I can't imagine you're going to get a nice clear sound on higher frets with most flatwound B strings. But you probably need to give it a good setup. Mine eventually ended up needing a fret job...

I saw a pic of a brute without a coil tap and there was no writing on the pickups. The ones I've seen with coil tap all have writing on the pickups. Yours has the writing but not the coil tap. Not sure that means anything, it's just something out of the ordinary that I noticed.
I have a hard time believing anyone would fake a bass that can be had relatively cheaply on the second hand market. What's even harder to believe is that someone faking one of these would properly copy the neck joint.

I’ve had two MJXs and both had the writing on the pickups and no coil tap, just like this one. Seems like there were lots of variations.

I picked up a Brubaker MJXSC-5 Brute Series recently (pretty fun with the flats that came on it) - but the bushing for the low-B tuner doesn't engage with the tuner body. I think the thread inside the tuner body is stripped bcs the matching thread on the bushing looks ok to me.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement tuner that I could use that wouldn't require any additional drilling/etc.
