Buddhism

I have been studying eastern philosophy for quite some time now, especially zen buddhism. I have read a number of books on it and on related topics. Some of the ones I would recommend are:

"Siddhartha" by Herman Hesse
"The Method of Zen" and "Zen in the art of Archery", both by Eugen Herrigel
"Zen Flesh, Zen Bones" by Paul Reps
"The Empty Mirror" by Janwillem van de Wetering

There are many, many others, but these are the ones that stick out most in my mind. If interested, you could PM me and I could recommend some more.

On a related note, "Zen Guitar", by Philip Sudo is a fantastic read and applys to all instruments, not just guitar. It provides a really fascinating, zen-inspired approach to practicing, performing, etc. and it's hard to put the book down. I liked it so much that I e-mailed the author to thank him. He was quite gracious and responded almost immediately.

I just want to thank you guys for sharing your beliefs on this thread. I have learned much tonight.

Brad...thanks for the perspective and clarification. I'm still sitting here thinking about.

Dave...I too have reservations discussing the topic.

Mycranium...good reading.

Love the holly wedgie.

By the way, I'm trying to change the subject. Religion is not to be discussed here, so let's talk about a a more universal concept: Megaman!

Megaman IS a religion!

What? you didn't know that? [/Pete & Pete reference]
