Budget "Foderas"

Stambaugh, EMG P/J's, and a Mike Pope preamp, done.

Should be able to do this inside of $3k. A Kahler put me about $200 over $3k budget, but I don't mind a bit.

If I said I`d love to have a Fodera, but my budget is max $3000, what brand(s) do you think of?

Funny you say that, my teacher and I were have the discussion of Thompson's and Fodera's in the 7,000 USD price range and a wait time of almost 3 years to have one built. Seems the price keeps going up because the demand never gets old and players will still shell out gobs of money just to have one.

In a perfect world both Thompson and Fodera basses would be at the 3k mark but that is just not a reality.

What I think gives Fodera that awesome sound is the Mike Pope preamp, and for 3 grand you can get yourself a amazing bass that would be on par with any Fodera.

I would look at having one build by Stambaugh or Cliff Bordwell, a 5 or 4 string with the MPP would be awesome.

Other than used, beats me. What kind of Fodera did you have in mind?

I wasn`t thinking of any specific Fodera model, just trying to get tips of some little more affordable highend basses. I have some nice jazzbasses(AC/Sad/Fender), but I could use a different type of bass too. A bass with a ultra fast neck, very responsive and even sounding..I don`t know really. I guess I`ve been into jazzbasses for so long, I just forgot to look at all the others;)
