Bugera BTX 36000

The power available from a typical 15A 110v outlet is about 1650 watts. Multiply that by the amp's efficiency, which is at best 90%, and that's how much power the amp can deliver, best case. This assumes that said amp has that 15A 110v outlet all to itself.

Which reminds me: what about an amp designed around 220VAC? More power is possible, right?

Only if you have a 220 outlet to plug into.

Equating watts with Volt/Amps, a standard 15A circuit can supply 1800W. In the UK with 240V at 13A you can draw 3120W. No amplifier can supply more power than it can take in continuously. Added you have power supply efficiency to take into account which will cut the available power even more.

I know this was already stated......But it's a "behringer"
They call it the NUKE because thats what happens when it blows up on you .....and then you are pissed off and realize thats why it's called the nuke.....because it just Nuked on you! Oh behringer, what funny guys they are!!

Hate to dig up an old thread but....

All ******** aside, has anyone tried one of these? Do they sound reasonable for the price?

I know it doesn't have the almighty Ampeg brand name behind it, but it looks to be very cheap power. I am considering buying it simply to have alot of power to throw around.

It has a power-amp-in socket, so would it be useful as just a power amp later on down the track? Even if it "isn't possible" to get 3600 watts, half that power is still a ton of power.

Also, can someone link me to the page with specifications on the power ratings and total harmonic distortion, their website does not seem to provide such information.

Edit: OK so the SVT8-Pro is rated at 2500 watts - at maximum 240volts and 10 amps, thats 2400 watts maximum. If Bugera is lying, then what is the go with Ampeg?

On YouTube, there are videos comparing Bugera amps to their brand name equivalent amps. Mesa vs. Bugera and Marshall vs. Bugera for example. Might be worth a listen if you're curious.

I haven't found any such videos for the Bugera bass amps, though...

Yea I just been listening to the Bugera guitar amps on youtube... they sound pretty good to me, mind you I have zero experience with guitars & guitar amps, let alone comparing stuff like Marshall and Mesa... so... :(

I'm hoping that one of the local stores will get them some time so I can have a listen.

Bugera bass amps so far looks like they are going for the Ampeg pro series look as well as over all design set up. The 5500 looks like the SVT 3 Pro as far as features wattage (more or less) goes. I had started another thread about the possiblity of Bugera producing an all tube bass amp much like they have done with their guitar amp line. I think it would do very well sales wise if for nothing else to be used as a backup or rehearsal amp or maybe even as the main amp in your rig. If it sounds good I would. I don't care what name is on the front.

i was at the local guitar center and they had a used one there.so i decided to check
it out.basically i thought to myself these amps are fairly new and someone already got
rid of it.anyway they matched it with a ampeg 810 cab.i turned the amp on at a low
volume so i could try and e q the sound a little bit.then i wanted to turn it up a little
so i did,the amp quit working.the power was on,no sound it just completely quit working.
i was unable to mess around with it long enough to see what this amp could do.so this may not be fair to the nuke but i think its a hunk of crap,and if you do find one that works,i definitely would question how reliable it is.

Might want to bug GC about that.
Behringer has a return policy for their warranty period.
If something goes wrong - you return it and get another.
GC probably took this head in return, then some GC geek quickly tried it and and thought it must be working and the customer who returned it was wrong.
You proved the amp really was bad.
Fail for GC - the customer was right, the amp was bad and GC neglected to return it to Behringer.

I have owned mine for 6 months now. I lug it around to about 2 gigs a week. I havent gotten a rack case for it yet but it is still holding up fine. I power a Ashdown stack (4x10 & 1x15) on one side and an Ampeg pr1832he cab on the other side. It is super loud and powerful. It powers both stacks and I havent turned it past half way yet. We play super loud ****** punk rock and I bought this because I was on a budget but needed to cut through two tube guitar stacks and it does it easily. I was leary at first. I have owned 2 behringer products before that I returned because they were ****. I also owned a bass V-amp for years and its great and never had an issue with it. So far I cant say enough good things about this amp. It has great tone, every feature I could ever want and it is loud as hell.
