hi, all! I am aware there are other threads on Bugera, yes, ive read them all b4 i posted this (here and elsewhere) and of people's opinions re mfr (and peak wattage issues), that prefaced: Anyone using a bugera bv1001t as their MAIN amp? Currently have a genz benz gbe400. Have an opportunity to get a great deal on the bugera, which i could either use as a primary or backup head, in event my ss genz-benz should need service. My main cab I'd be using for gigging is a Genzler Bass Array (12x3). My (rack) compressor is a dbx166a. Basses are Yamaha BB415 Yamaha BB425x Squier vintage modified jaguar Judging on reviews ive seen and vids ive listened to, it has a great, punchy tone. Anyone gigging with one of these? (Obviously not rn, but previously) How is the headphone output?
I'll kill the others, the post sorta went dodgy mid-"create thread function". Thanks. LMFAO No delete thread function. I reported the duplicates, let's see if that works. This oughta be entertaining after seeing the other 30 page threads where people requested to delete a thread...
I had a BV1001T for about 18 months and I used it often at practice and for the gigs I had while I owned it. Sounded good; “round and punchy” is the best description. With my modded Ampeg V4 4x12 cab, it was huge-sounding. if you can get it for a good price, it’s totally worth it for a backup and might even become your main amp. Full disclosure, I no longer have mine, as I traded it to set up a small PA system and I have a TC Electronic BH800 amp that has more features that I use.
I have the BV1001T, although it is not my primary at the moment, it could be and wouldn't think twice about it. What style of music are you playing. I ask because, because depending on the style music, people prefer the " M " over the " T " and vise versa. The " T " is very tubey, while the " M " is fast and more articulate. Just something to think about. Great amp for the price!
Bye the way, there is a BV1001M and BV1001T in the classifieds right now for a decent price ( not mine ).
The Mosfet version is more reliable, and sounds better. I had both. I returned the T, and rocked the M for about 2 years before moving to a TC 412 set up. But, it was a great little amp.
Yup. First 2 weeks it started having tube problems. One tube turned black, wierd random squeal, excessive noise through the DI too. Returned it on defect and went with the M. Ran perfect out the box to when I sold it. Loud, clean, punchy, transparent-ish tone (as in, it pretty much sounds the same as plugging your bass straight in to the interface as it does out the DI). It was a good little amp. X-ed out the tubes, X-ed out the problems. The tube version also had this really odd quirky high mid range to it too. The mosfet version doesn't. The M also pushes more clean low end. Oh yeah, and better yet, it's cheaper. Win win win win.
I rocked the T for a year+ before I bought an all tube Mesa and a bassman. Just listed mine in the classified but not because I didn’t love it. It totally rocks!
Yikes! Thanks to all foe the comments on this tube head. I pulled the plug on the urge to buy this head. My genz benz gbe400 is rock solid with its genzler cab for now. I dropped the cash instead into a nice ibanez sr506zw 6 string for some tonal variation in my rig and training instead. Everyone else went with the bm version of same bass, looking forward to it. Y'all skeered me off the tube version of the head and i aint fond of mosfet. The Genz sounds good with any of my current basses (or even my PRS guitar) plugged into it.
