Bugera BVV3000I review

Thx for posting mr. Hayes! I would never say that BVV is better; it's a copy afterall, it wasn't meant to be better. It's the "same" sound with less reliable components.

Lindex, I'm glad to hear that your BVV is working great. I'm still having fears you talked about! Especially after my friend's Diezel VH4 went dead because of bad tubes - and Diezel puts no crappy parts in their stuff! Nothing is sacred :hmm:

Mine is alive and well. Although, as gastric mentioned, lack of 8ohm output is really annoying. I'm running it with 8ohm cab. I know that there was a lot of talkbassing around SVT and 8ohm boxes - would it be smart to run an SVT @4ohms with an 8ohm cab, and additional 8ohm dummy load for a total of 4ohms? Seems like a legit solution...

Meanwhile, here are some backside pics without the grille. Hope I'll take sam real gut photos soon...

Useful thread, thanks you guys. I've been tempted to get one at that price - I mean, why not. I've been pretty much exclusively a solid state player for the last 15 years (mostly as I can't be bothered to drag an all-tube head around because I don't hate myself enough yet) and the all-tube amps I've tried (read: played through as provided backline at gigs) haven't exactly blown me away... I mean, they were all right, but nothing special. I guess owning one to fiddle around with would be cool, though.

It makes sense that it would basically be an SVT-CL - Behringer aren't exactly original when it comes to designs, but if it does the job well enough, I agree that it's not justifiable to spend 3x the amount on a CL. Especially considering that the used prices are not... great this side of the pond.

This is a great review thread. Excellent inside and out :)
Cleaner build than I expected since Bugera advertised "Hand-Built"

Anybody really think there's any intellectual property (IP) in tube amp designs since the original Western Electrics and AT&T patents expired?

It would still be interesting to see if Bugera copied the amp down to the clipping diodes in the SVT CL. Bugera schematics are rare and I haven't seen any.

Infinium technology is definite IP that only Bugera has. And they'd sue anybody who tried to copy it. Being able to use any tube is going to be an advantage as tubes continue to rise in price as the rest of technology improves and drops in price.

If all goes well I should be picking one of these up tomorrow. found a used one on CL for $450. guys says it's only been played a few times and just to heavy for him. If it tests out good figure it's worth a try for the price.

Anybody been able to get ahold of a schematic for this head? I wanted have one in case an issue pops up down the road. Spent some time with it and it really has the SVT-CL sound. Really makes it hard to justify spending the dough especially when the modern SVT-CL are made overseas as well (with the exception of the heritage).

These things are freaking tough! Decided to take down my stack and have the cabs at ground level so the bottom caster's aren't loaded too much. In the process of taking the head off lost control of the beast and dropped it from 1.5 feet! I figured it was done. I fired it up and no issues. The cab took the blow and some of the joints came loose. Glued it up today put it back together and let it run for an hour plus. All is well.

Not a BVV owner, but I play a Bugera 1960 as my main amp, and it's nice to see a review thread that didn't degenerate into blatant Behringer bashing. The BVV is too high wattage for me, I need the power tube breakup that comes with running 100 watts instead of 300.

Good to hear that they're running well for everyone. My 1960 has made it 2 full years of weekly 3hr rehearsals and ~2 gigs per month with no issues. Cheers!
