recently, i've been seeing the name bugera alot. i looked them up and found this: http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend...0-Classic-550W-Valve-Bass-Amp-Head?sku=581274

i was wondering if anyone had used these amps yet, and if anyone knew if they sounded good or not. the price seems too good to be true with this many watts and an all tube head.

its not an all tube head. just the preamp is tube. the power amp is solid state. the ad's copy is very misleading.

Ya think? Four 12AX7 tubes does not a tube amp make. When I see add copy like this, it just re-enforces my opinion of that place.

From what I understand there like clone amps. The two out right now are the "nuke" and one other lower wattage one. The behringer thing is completely true. They even look alot like there rack gear. But if you look at the front section and back section of the "nuke" it is clearly mimicking the SVT4pro, right down to the built in crossover. However the Nuke is completely solid state, no pre tubes like the SVT4. The other is alot like the SVT3 500 or so watts of power , but this ones got 12ax's in it. If you look at there guitar line , its pretty clear there all jcm900, 5150, plexi, and a mesa clones I researched these for months before I made my purchase. There were only a few reviews and they were hard right, and hard left. I came to the conclusion that this " like many other behringer purchases" was a luck of the draw purchase. Maybe get one that would last a lifetime and sound great, or get one that was doa, or overheating, or just go out in the middle of a gig. That was something I wasn't willing to risk. I ended up going with an SVT4pro, and love it!

I've been reading some threads in various guitar forums, the Bugera 6260 is favorably turning a lot of naysayers's heads, especially among guitarists who have to go from clean to mean mid-song. If you see a bass head from them plug in and tell us what YOU think, your opinion is just as valid as everyone else's here.

Yeah and they totally blew any and all cover they might have had by calling it 'Ultrabass" again! I can't believe they put that name on their Bugera stuff like that! If I remember correctly the "Ultrabass"es were where a lot of their reputation went down the pot!

And yes that advertisement is blatant lies. From the lettering on the amp itself "Valve Bass Amplifier" to the copy. I mean the amplifier stage has absolutely no valves in it, how can it be a "Valve Bass Amplifier"? If you want to buy from a company that lies like that be my guest. I guess the warranty and other stuff is all lies as well...

Clones of what? My concern is that copying the control layout and trade dress of another amp doesn't mean that there is any resemblance under the hood. For instance that BVP head has fewer preamp tubes than another similar looking head, so it can't be the same design.
