You and me both..... I can only speculate at this point, but I'm guessing with the identical pups and electronics that I have in my Spector, I can get a sound in the neighborhood of that.

Thanks ya'll.

I just wish I could get it done a little more expeditiously.......

Just sort of ordering parts as i need them, instead of all at once, I will do that no more after this one.

I'll have me a fingerboard, as soon as i catch up with Wilser and visit his wood spot on saturday after next (21'st). Don't know how long the wait will be on the bridges either.

Wow, subscribed...that's a really solid looking bass! I'm a huge fan of no-nonsense designs. I've got a headless in the works, still trying to figure out what hardware to use. HipShot says they are doing headless hardware soon, getting tired of waiting... are you getting the Bunker hardware off an old bass?

I think hipshot will still be awhile on theirs, I won't be waiting for them. I really want to do "single bridges", and I think the ABM mono rails are a little high ($80 a pop @ allparts) priced, although found some on the bay @$60 a pop. The bunker set, well there's 3 types sold in sets, surface mount and Top mount and through body, which range from 199 - 243 (at least for 5 string). Best price so far, look like a good design.

Wider necks benefit from it, especially 5 string and up (A wise builder once told me). As the neck gets wider, it's more challenging for a single rod to work properly.......IE, I have a fretless 6 that has one rod, it does work good for the most part, but were talking about a very wide neck, adjustments to the rod are less significant towards the B and C strings.

Besides, I am always overkill ;)

I do have a 4 string that has 2 (Alembic Epic), when it's properly set up I can get the lowest possible action with no fret buzz.

Re: dual trussrods

I've had both, and we used both (before I came here), and frankly, there is no great return on the investment in my opinion. A well made neck with a single rod and good reinforcement (graphite rods on either side of the trussrod) will remain as stable as anything else, and you don't end up chasing your setup around. When you have two rods, and you adjust one, it affects where the other side of the neck settles in, then you need to adjust that side, which affects where the first side settled in a bit, and you need to adjust that side, which then....

However, I did have two neck-through 6's with dual rods, and I got good at "balancing" them after a bit of trial and error and frustration/irritation/cussing.
