Starting the next concept: a LedBelli Noah Fretless 6 String, probably in a singlecut based off the following template.

I'm even thinking of doing a bridge-tuner arrangement. I despise headless designs, so this Noah would still have the trademark LedBelli headstock, but would be strung-through.


Oh yes -- and many thanks to one and all for your kind words on the work-in-progress so far.

Time will tell . . .

I intend to route an access channel into the body. I'm still arguing with myself over exactly how I want to design that access point (i.e., with a cover or no, etc.).

Some builders (rarely) have left it as is, where then removing the neck was necessary to adjust the truss rod. NOT!

So, we'll see . . .

Next step is routing pup cavities when the templates arrive. This is a Noah Standard: Bartolini J' pups and preamp are spec'ed.

Everything from here forward I consider to be "finish" work: final sanding in prep for finishing; neck inlays, neck finishing, and fretting; then the body finish itself, hardware and setup.

Final sanding begins. The neck is finish sanded to 220 and ready for application of Satin. Then will follow fretting and side-dots, nut and tuning machines.

The body is sanded to 150 and is ready for final pickup routing, then will seal and sand to 220.

great to see you posting again. sweet work. so you are going to finish the neck with satin, THEN fret it? thats the first time i have heard of anyone doing it that way. i like to taper the fingerboard, rough cut the neck taper, glue the fingerboard, make the neck flush, radius and fret, then round the neck. i notice that everyone has a slightly different order.
btw, is this getting a natural finish? i am eager to see one of your basses finished under the finish you were tellin me about earlier.
