building a cab....

a short story

one sunday afternoon, when i was 14 or 15 years old, a bunch of my friends were returning home after a trip to the city. walking from the train station to one of my friend's houses, we notice a garage sale (yard sale) and decided to stop and have a look. it was one of our other friends birthdays the week approaching so we thought we might find some random crap......

anyway, at the garage sale i spotted a set of speaker cabinets that were originally from a home stereo system i believe. probably originally late 80s.... i expressed interest in them, and the man said that "they were really nice speakers, but need repair, $10 each" i bought them for $10 the pair, and then we carried them back home. they were heavy things.... when we got back, we took the 'grills of to find some speaker cones in horrible condition.

looks like 210 + a 4" + a 2". ive kept them for the past 8 years thinking the cabs themselves might prove useful one day.

and then it dawned on me, maybe i should have a go at turning them into bass cabs!!!!!!

i'll post a few images, let me know if you think that this box has what it takes to make the convert....

so you can see that the main construction material is chipboard...
you might also note my dinner tonight. it looked pretty damn good so i thought i would take a photo of it.
anyway, your comments and advice awaits. thankyou TB

i thought i would struggle for serious responses if i posted that pic! for the record, the burgers are marinated field mushroom and tofu with australian cheese, baby spinach, roma tomato and caesar dressing.

now back to the cab.... ive waited 8 years for this inspiration!
does this cab look like it will handle the demands of 350w @ 8 ohms?
any suggestions as to what my next step might be? speakers, other components? i was thinking of making one of the smaller speaker holes into a tweet and the other into a port...... throw some ideas at me TB!
