that is indeed a badass song, ive learned the first part, the solos are crazy, have you heard scit scat wah, by racer x?

what exactly is the "steveharris technique"?

I think what the Steve Harris thing is supposed to mean is using 3 fingers to get that 2 16th note followed by 1 8th note "galloping" groove that Maiden used alot during the 80's. However, Steve only used his first 2 fingers.

no, i never heard that one. i heard them open for priest i think it was back when i was in college, they were pretty good live.

Steve Harris never uses a pick ... he always plays fingerstyle.

Man, he's the reason I started playin' bass ! I learned playin' by watchin' all my Maiden vids and trying to play along with my favorite Maiden songs..
(My first song I could play was Running Free, and that's the first song Harris wrote, back in the 70 's !!! )
It's amazing how fast he can play with his fingers !!
He's the Bass - God !!!!!!!!!!!!!! - to me that is

Well put, if you dont have one already you should buy one, start slowly and gradually work up the tempo. This also helps you to play it all in time.

Good point, another thing I love about SH is how he gets the galloping going and then will drop his hand down with the thumb out to play a chord.

He seems to keep his fretting had in a chord shape a lot.
