built a boost with a 15.5kHz LPF... thoughts on frequency?

on another forum i have a quote about plotting loadlines being only for the terminally bored or truly desperate. figuring rc filter values by hand is on that same level. knowing what the equations mean and being able to do them is important, but dang if i don't like getting on to the next part of my build. it would help analyzing known circuits. there's one for gyrators that's also quite helpful: Guitar Pedals: Gyrator Filter Calculator
 
I set it at 1.55kHz. I only have it in a temporary box. Does what I was looking for. Will try to get a brief video up in the next hour. The switch is not wired so it's hot 'on' but I put it in a true bypass loop selector so I can at least demo it for you guys. It's early here, so I will do a quick demo so I don't piss anybody off.

Well, it did what I was hoping for. I spent more time on here than I did tweaking it.

Honestly, I have said it many times, but boredom is bad and mental exercise is a good thing. for me at least. Learned a lot and for me that was a goal. I do understand that my frequency was, at the least way off initially, I am generally a guitarist. I thought the snap of the bass was a higher harmonic, that's all. I am starting my masters in electrical engineering in the fall, and I am idle brain is no good. I would rather take trial and error and learn from myself, even if far more time consuming, that's how I learn.

I will post the video on about an hour and a half.

FYI I am not a skilled bassist,and in the past just played it like a guitar. Now I am learning how to play bass like a bassist.
 
Also, thanks for the link I will give it a look! And believe me I was terminally bored. Lol. I build different things all the time for entertainment.

A few weeks ago I programmed Arduino blue tooth remote decibel meter that I could put outside my shop that would notify me if the decibel levels were too high at the property line for noise violation in the middle of the night. Fun and interesting.

Again an idle mind is no good. At least not for me.
 
well. i am unable to get a great video as far as sound quality and just quickly played to demo. Rode videomic and DSLR. the videomic is awesome at everything but low frequencies is where it is lacking (a la bass guitar). first take no editing.

i think you should be able to tell when it is activated. its much more drastic in room than it appears on the video, this is also at a low volume. this will be thunder for a big bass rig when i get one.

also i didn't really boost more than 20dB near as i can tell.


my endgame is to make it a momentary switch for a temporary bass boom, almost like a bass boom in a song that you hear on some Lamb of God stuff.

it will be on only while stepped on (hence momentary). just so i can drop the boom when i want to drop the massive boom.

this will probably get used for only a few seconds here and there but, it was what i needed and does the effect i was looking for. now for getting the momentary switch wired up.
