Hey there. I ordered from GC a Trace Elliot AH600SMX advertised as in good working condition. I got a steal on it because they actually had it listed as AH400. I got it to our room and plugged it in. I get the power light in the back on and hear the fan but have no lights or power on the front of the amp (not even the black light). Only guy I know that repairs amps is 6 weeks out. Could a connection have jarred loose during shipping? A possible easy fix? Suggestions most welcome

Take it back to CG. Ask them to fix it or refund you.

I wonder if the sent you the wrong amp.

I had something similar happen with GC. I ordered a used Ampeg BA110v2 combo practice amp but received a BA210v2 450w amp. Big upgrade except it didn't work.

I called the shipping store and learned that they had accidentally shipped me an amp that had been returned for repair.

It took a few calls to sort out but GC made it right. I dropped the 210 off at my local store and got a near new BA112 in exchange for the BA110 I originally ordered.

BTW, the BA210 had a blown fuse--it was a beast of a practice amp!

Nope.

I'm not gonna write about how disappointing it is that people continue to have issues with certain establishments despite the many well-documented stories that are posted on this website.

I'm just not gonna do it.

The whole point (for me, at least) of using Guitar Cetner's used gear site is that if it doesn't work for you, you can drop it off at your nearest GC for a refund without worrying about return shipment.

It is possible that the issue is due to "a connection having jarred loose in shiping", but even if that's the case, it's likely to require a competent tech to repair. Don't know how far away your nearest bricks-and-mortar GC is, but I'd strongly advise taking it back to them. There's no guarantee on this stuff, but if they have an in-house tech who could open it up and check for basic connectivity and fusing, they may prefer doing that to dealing immediately with the return shipping and reimbursement.

They do sell a protection plan with used gear.
It's an option.
Though not working on arrival should be something they take care of regardless.

You can also have the item delivered to a store and pick it up.
You can unbox it, try it out before even leaving. If there is an issue, you can address it with them right there.
