So, my regular band has a show tomorrow evening at one of our favorite venues - a beer garden in a huge greenhouse filled with amazing plants and lots of picnic tables. Amazing craft brews, an in-house pizza oven, and delicious food truck cuisine. It’s an early show - 5 to 8, so ordinarily an early load out and home by my usual bedtime. But not this time…

A couple weeks ago I was invited by friends in another band to participate in a cool concert. They’re doing a Foo Fighters celebration called FooFest, where maybe 30 players are invited to perform the majority of the FF catalog. I’ll be playing 3 songs. The venue is a bar about an hour away from my early gig. So as soon as we’re loaded out from the beer garden, I’m driving to the other spot to free my inner Foo. It’s gonna be loud - no IEMs, lots of tube amps, and blistering stage wedges. Ear plugs will be a must. But it’s going to be an absolute blast. My friends are excellent musicians and it’s a bit of a privilege for a thoroughly mediocre player like me to get the invite. Pretty hyped about it…

How’s your weekend looking? 😎

Yesterday’s gigs were awesome. Our regular show at the beer garden was a killer. We were blessed with decent weather ( something that’s been hard to come by around here lately), and the place was jammed. People dancing in the first set and we kept them moving for the whole show. As good as it gets for us…

The FooFest show was epic fun. A total of 58 players participated and the event was very well organized. Personnel changes between songs went very smoothly. Everyone had a great time, apart from one seriously inebriated woman who fancied herself an MMA fighter. She started throwing elbow strikes at folks on the dance floor but was unceremoniously escorted off the premises pretty quickly.

Today I’m enjoying tired legs, sore feet, and a happy heart. I hope I get invited back next time!
