You must be looking at the carbon fiber series, I can’t attest to them. Check out the basic. Any buckle on the left with any strap on the right for $35. Plus you can get 15% off. yes I’d say worth it. (I have black on black, I’ll probably buy more in the future)

If those are blisters rather than dents then it would be a clear case of a bad finish. A modern poly finish shouldn't blister up and fall off the bass. It looks like the sealer coat is still on the wood, so I'm guessing a bonding issue here between the sealer and colour coats. Maybe the colour was still gassing off when the clear was sprayed, or something funky like that?

Weird thought: Did you switch cases on this bass recently? I have heard of outgassing of adhesives affecting finishes. Many people have said it looks like a heat-gun. I thought it looked like a chemical peel, like when you use that gel to remove paint. Could your bass be exposed to some volatile compound like naptha or acetone?

He said Ray5 in the OP not, Stingray 5. Lower end Rays have weak finishes. I know there is a MM neck plate in the pics, but maybe it got switched or somthing.

Check out Grip6 belts. They sit flat and you don’t have to worry about any kind of buckle rash. Been using one daily for over a year. I’ll never go back.

To OP, that sucks. I’d probably cry if that happened to mine. Definitely contact EB and see if they can do anything.

A grip6 belt would be more appealing if the reasonable-price ones weren't made of metal. I enjoy having an airline happy belt.

Update: It's getting worse and snags on my shirt whenever I play. I think I'm gonna need to sand it down but don't want to mess things up more. Can anyone recommend what kind of sandpaper and maybe sealer to use just to get it smooth? I don't really care about the look anymore as long as it continues to play well.
