Buying a Bass DI

EBS Micro Bass II or Mesa Subway bass (800) Di ? I think I think need a bass DI (after reading to many threads LOL). Its going to be used for plugging into the PA and home recording. I like the bells and whistles - head phone and fx loop - that the EBS has , but it seems this a much older (and its used) design ,than the Mesa , wich is brand New and looks simple and effective, has warranty, and could be returned . Same price. I like using a few pedals , Meatbox , envelope filter , but in the end - a good clean sound is the most important thing . I can't try every DI in the book, so I ve narrowed it down to these two - because they are available near me , and as Bob Barker said , the price is right . Wich would you grab ? Thanks

If you're going to put other pedals in front of it, and the DI is to get you into your amp and PA, a Radial ProDI is a fabulous and very affordable tool. If you want the DI to do lots of other things, though, that ain't the box you want - the Mesa is a good tool in that "tone shaping" vein.

A little tone shaping won't hurt at all. A lot of times I dont use any pedals. And I guess I'm a little skeptical to " build in fx" . I find - the one trick pony pedal - does the trick best . It would be nice with a aux and headphone plug , but Ive got that on my amp. Thanks !

I don't have any experience with the EBS Micro Bass II but I've heard nothing but good things about it. Not popular as other gear but still very good and even if it's used it may still deliver for many years.
I had a Subway DI and I can't say enough good things about it. It's one of the best sounding preamps in the market. If you're looking for a great clean preamp that works good with your pedals than this is perfect for you. It's super versatile.
