Hi, need a little help here. My friend has a NS design WAV bass and Im looking into buying a bass bow for christmas. I was thinking of getting an ns bass bow, which apparently is a French style carbon fiber bow (as on the advice of another upright bass player its sometimes better to get the same brand for playability).
But the ns design ones are looking difficult to acquire before Christmas. So Im looking for an alternative in the budget end of the scale. Around the same price which is $270. Anybody have any experience with upright bass bows? Or playing the WAV bass with a bow, and any recommendations? Im not a string player myself so this whole topic is pretty alien to me!
Seriously, any help at all would be really appreciated. His primary instrument is electric bass, and the upright was bought last year so hes still adjusting to that. So I dont know what the best way to go - invest in a slightly better one for a higher price that will last him longer as he develops? Im not sure.
