Buying a road worn bass

Jeepers. Why is this thread still open when it's just a snipe fest offering no new information?

I agree the sniping is dull.

New Information? How can we tell what you already know, LOL?
Have questions about RW basses? The fact is that they are just plain old Fender passive basses.

My advice is to make an effort to go play a few, if possible. Not long after they were first issued, I was lucky because one of the local independent guitar shops stocked several good ones, that were well set-up. You can read about my experience here:

I've played many since, and have found some are a little better than others—no shock there.

If you like vintage Fender bass tone—I would bet you would like the sound of a RW. Other factors, like looks and price, I can't comment, except to say you can find used ones under $700.

Am I the only one that is missing the point here? I thought worn paint and neck were badges of honor not something you buy.

Tell me what attracted you to your road worn bass.

Oh and no offense intended. I'm really curious about this.

Did you buy one yet? Ha Ha! ;) :bassist:
