buying pickguards

I want to buy a pickguard for my (highway 1, pre- body truss rod hole) jazz bass, but I don't want to spend $40 (i want either pearloid or tortoise). I've heard on TB that if one is careful, he can get away with spending roundabouts of 25. Where is this? a website, i'm hoping.

With the cheaper pickguards, and tortishell, it's a good idea to contact them and see if it's really tortise shell (the top layer is a translucent multicolor plastic), or if it's a print (top layer is printed to look like tortise). I have a mighty mite guard that looks good (and was really cheap) but it's a print and not true tortise.

know also, that most cheaper guards will require the drilling of a new hole or two, and the "finessing" of a hole or two.

Theres this new website called " Ebay"

Yea I bout 3 from the 'bay and one fit great and was great quality so I was happy with it.

Fast forward 3 months I ordered from the same guy, they didnt fit (Fenders Jazz) the holes where all off and even the "shape" wasnt nowhere near par. A few emails and 2 months later nothing..... so use caution. (with shipping I lost @$55). I dont know it it was a bad batch but I got burned.

Who did you buy it from? I'm getting a new pickguard for my jazz and was looking at the ones on Ebay. Don't want to run into the same problem.
