buzz from my amp

i've got a new ashdown mag c115 300 combo. it's great apart from one thing. i'm not sure if it's normal or to be expected, but i'm getting a buzzing sound in certain situation.

it's not a constant buzz, it only appears when i move my bass closer to the head of the amp. as i move closer i get a buzz. if i turn so i'm not facing the amp, it goes away. the buzz is strongest when the pickups are close to the head. this happens with all my cables and both my passive basses.

i have to be quite close and facing the amp before i get anything, so it's not really a problem, but i just want to know if this is actually an issue or just something to be expected.

thanks

That's quite normal. Power transformers put out electromagnetic fields that affect guitar pickups. Better transformers like toroids and shielded ones put out less EMF. The one in the Ashdown is probably neither.
