Buzz on 1st fret only

Found buzz on the 1st fret A string only and I couldn't lower the action. I know fret leveling will work, but I don't have the experience and equipment. By the way, is there any way I could do other than level the fret in this case ?

May be try to adjust the trust rod, with just a little more curve in the neck, may be it will helps...

Optimally I think it should be set with a gap between .3 and .5mm under the string at the 8 fret, while pressing the string at the first fret and where the neck join the body... I found this setting allow to have the lowest action evenly along all the neck, with minimum fret buzz...

When only one string buzzes on one fret, it is probably because that string is too close to that fret. Causes: nut cut too low on that string or fret too high in that area. Measure the string to fret clearance on the first fret on all strings and compare. Measure string to fretboard clearance at the nut of each string and compare. If a clearance problem is not found then the problem may be that you are just trying to have the action too low. Change with a truss rod adjustment and/or a string saddle adjustment. If the 1st fret is too high, you can file down just that fret, keeping the fret contour correct. If the nut is cut too low, put a small paper shim under the string in the nut slot. If that cures your problem, then you can replace the nut or build up the nut slot and refile to the proper depth. The most common problem, especially on the A string is the break angle of the string over the nut. The A string needs to have 3-4 winds going downward to place the string exit from the post, as low as possible. Try this first.

Thanks to all !! Actually I think I gave wrong info. The buzz happens when I press the 1st fret the A#. I believe the 2nd fret is uneven. Tried to put paper on the nut slot, but no significant improvement. May need to let my friend doing the fret leveling.

If you press the 1st fret, and the second or third fret buzzes, the cause of the buzz has nothing to do with nut slot depth. The cause of the buzz could be many things. Fret has lifted -or- fret(s) need to be leveled -or- neck needs more relief -or- action too low -or etc.

Don't just automatically start leveling frets. Check all aspects of the instrument... do a complete setup.

He may need a straight edge to check it.
Fret Rocker is the go but down that end of the FB it will have to be the longer one.
Take the advice of not leveling right away try the other things first. If then you know the fret is high then it may be done.If you know how to do just one fret isnt that hard.Level a high fret - YouTube
This guy is using a freakin memory card from a playstaion to check the level....go figure. If you know how its done it aint hard to do.
You only need a triangle File & micro Mesh.
