Double Bass Buzz on tuner?

Other than banging on the little steel "jaws" of the steel shaft of the tuner to crimp it, how do I get rid of the annoying buzz from the brass blade on my A string tuner?
I don't see a rivet, so it seems to be "grasped" although it does move a little as if it has a hidden pin.
If you can imagine a guitar pick with a clothes pin holding by its pointed end.

Dab a little clear nail polish into the shaft slot where the blade enters it.

I'm pretty sure there is a pin in there which you can't see because the shaft was sanded and polished after the fact. Super glue might work. A more permanent solution would be to remove the tuner from the bass and get that joint silver soldered. Tricky and maybe expensive though.
