Buzz/rattle after changing strings

I recently changed strings on my new Am Pro II P-bass from the stock Fender rounds to La Bella 760FL's. Sounds/plays great except that the open E string now has a gnarly buzz/rattle when plucked at medium and up strength. If I depress the string behind the nut, it doesn't happen. While the string goes 2 wraps around the post and the break angle looks fine to my eye, I fear I either didn't leave enough slack for another wrap, or does the bass need a different adjustment? I don't get buzz/rattle anywhere else except the open E. I presumed it's coming from the first fret, but the way it fully vibrates/resonates it almost sounds/feels like the truss inside.

It is also possible that string is not sitting in the nut groove fully, but only leaning on the edges. It has to make full contact with bottom, or else when plucked harder, vibrations will make it "dance" on those rims.
