Buzzing Bass with Tascam Bass Trainer

Sorry if this post is similar to some other threads but after reading them I'm still not sure. When I plug my new Epi Thunderbird into my Tascam Bass Trainer, I get a buzzing sound that goes away if I touch the strings or cable jack. It will also go away if the volume is off. And it will also go away if I unplug the AC adapter and run off the battery. The bass has humbuckers (most other posts referred to single coils). It doesn't happen if I plug into my amp. None of my other basses cause the buzz on my Tascam. What's going on here?

I have the same problem. The noise seems to come from the bass but I have found that by adjusting the input volume on the tascam and using a boosted volume pedal the noise can be reduced to almost zero

Obviously since its gone when you unplug the adapter, that is the problem. The ungrounded adapter is introducing ac hum that goes away when you ground the bass with your body. Plugging into an ac line conditioning power supply should help. You could also try a different ac outlet.

Check the ground and wiring in the bass as well.

@Scoly - Thanks for the response. I don't have a volume pedal. I think I'm stuck with running with the dc power. I don't usually practice for more than three hours at a time and the Tascam's battery seems to be able to handle that. Thanks again.

@96tbird - Thanks. The weird thing is that all of my other basses do not have this problem when plugged into the Tascam. I've got a five other basses and the t-bird is the only one that seems to have the problem. Good news is that the battery seems to last pretty long on the Tascam so dc power will work. Thanks again.
