BX1200 + BRX10.4 Neo Volume. Weird or not?

So I just got my BRX10.4 today and as soon as I got it I went down to the practice space and hooked it up to try it out. I have it bridged on my BX1200 so now it's running 1200w through it. It sounds awesome and all, but the volume of the cab seems a little low, at least I just assume it is.

My old setup was BX1200 bi-amped into a Trace Elliot 1028H and a custom built 15" Eminence speaker. Both ran 8 ohms, so roughly 250w each, or is it 275w, I forget. But I had my volumes at 6 on 15", 5 on 2x10", and 4 or 5 on master. Right now running my BRX, I'm doing 6 Volume and 6 on Master for the same amount of volume. Is it just like that? I don't know, I just thought it'd be louder pushing that much power through it. Not complaining though cuz it still sounds way better. Except for the fact that my Cabinet came with 2 awesome dents in the front of the cab. Looks like the UPS guy dropped it against a curb or something, haha.

Call Carvin about the dents and get a new one NOW. They will ship the new one before you send your old one back. Try to elevate the new cab. If you had the other two cabs stacked then it sounds louder because the speakers are closer to you ears. What are you tuned to? Mayhaps the fact that your new cab can produce a lower bass tone but suffers in db lose is just something you need to get use to.

Get out in front some as well, I don't know if Carvins are this way but my NEO cab seem to project better. Not as loud up close to the cab though.

As long as I don't have to pay for shipping then I guess I could send it back as long as like you said, I get a new cab before I have to send this one. Cuz crap, if I wanted a blemished Cab I could have just got one from them off eBay and paid 50 bucks less. I kinda don't mind it too much cuz with the gigging I do, it'll end up a little beat anyways. But I'm really hoping nothing inside is busted since I already know that it's been banged around.

But I tune in BEADG or ACGCF.

B-string is right, you need to stand back about 10' to really make a decision about the volume as well as elevating it. Mine is off the caster and sitting an 18" high platform. It does help.

Carvin will email you a return slip to take to UPS and they will usually ship the new one out on the same day or the next day. I suppose you could wait nutil you get the replacement one before sending the damaged one, but I would call them and let them know what happened. Its a shame that so many people are having problems with UPS screwing up Carvin's gear as of late.
