BYOC Confidence Booster

Hey guys!

So I got a soldering iron for Christmas and built myself one of the BYOC Confidence Booster kits. Its a simple booster circuit that does not come with an enclosure or a switch, you basically just plug it inline with your signal chain and it does its thing.

So my question is, how would I go about adding in a foot switch and maybe a knob for the trim pot? Also how would I add in the 9V DC plug vs the battery snap?

-Thank you!

I just finished doing this very thing. It's actually my second confidence booster enclosure, because I gave my first one to my little brother (who plays guitar). Beavis Audio is a great resource and what I used to get up and going. Along with the pedal wiring link posted above, he has a good detailed explanation of pedal power and a variety of small projects that help understand the switch lugs.

Now, that link isn't quite enough, or rather it's not as easy as following the BYOC sheet. It's actually harder to do this than to build a full pedal kit. The tricky part of adding stuff to the Confidence Booster is that it's not designed with that in mind, so not everything maps one-to-one with typical pedal wiring info. That's kind of good in the end because it makes you figure things out and come up with the equivalent to make it work. I added wall power to my first one, but because things got complex quickly (and you need a stereo jack for the input), I found it easier to swap it in place of the battery snap instead of making them work together.

For adding the volume pot, this video gives a quick and simple explanation. Just wire it in between the OUT TIP on the board and the footswitch.

Built one of these and gave it to my guitar player, he loves the thing. Got all the info and parts form the BYOC site. The BYOC forums have all the info and diagrams for boxing up the CB.
