Does anyone tune their bass to C-G-C-F? (low to high)
I've never really seen this tunning too often, but I'm wondering this because this is Shavos' tunning from Sytem of a Down, and I want to learn some of their songs.
Thanks

I can't agree here, most bassists try to match their guitarists' tuning so they can play the fast open string riffs guitarists love to come up with without risking damage to their fretting hand. Sure, I double my band's open C guitar riffs in standard tuning, but some of them are so awkward to play without the open C I gladly tune to CEADG for a couple of songs.Or just learn a 5 string and never detune your bass again.![]()
I tuned to C for a recent project - I used a .130 B tuned up for the bottom string, it has all the punch of a regular E string at standard pitch. This is because the tension of a .130 string at C is very close to a .105 string at E (this info brought to you by D'Addario's excellent string tension/pitch chart).
