So, now I get it. Apparently, light bulbs are used to absorb excess power via their non-linear impedance or as slow-blow fuses. According to [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and this one (and others), it's not a great idea.

Thanks for all the good information. Sorry I haven't been able to participate much as of late. I've been sick as a dog.

The cabinets arrive today and the amp arrives tomorrow. I hope I have the energy to plug it all together and give it a whirl. Even with a 4-day long fever I still feel excitement.
