Cab combo preferences

It's very subjective but I prefer a 115 with a 210 or just a 115. Lately I've just been using just a 112 cause it's portable and has great mids. Cab brand/model makes a huge difference though.

I tend to hear 12s as more mid-forward than 10s, but I could just be hearing with my eyes.

Close your eyes and listen to them first. Then lift the one you like. If you like the sound but don't like the weight, move on to a different combination... Even better if you can try them in a band setting.

Ignore the size of the speakers and concentrate on the sound.

True now more than ever.
But I still have my "biases", and am partial to 12s".
There are great sounding cabs in all configurations these days.
So now, given the above, the other big factor - for me - is the cabinet profile.

I like taller cabs / speakers closer to my ears.
Single cabs don't work for me - they require too much elevation.
210s seem a little short to me, and 215s - well, I just don't need that much.
212s just seems the best of both worlds for my preferences.

I started out with 4x12s - because that's what happened to be available at the time, and I liked them.
Then I moved to 410 SWRs in the early 90s.
In hindsight, 410s were heavy cabinets requiring multiple dead-lifts between loading and elevating the cab on top of a road case and amp rack.
I've never been happier than when I went back to vertical 212s in the past 5 years.

I have a question. What cab combination do you think gives you the best sound? 2 x 212 cabs. 4x10 cabw/1x115 2x 410 cabs. Or any other combination. I play rock and funk. So I’m wondering what other bassist use live to get a great punchy sound.
