I have a question. What cab combination do you think gives you the best sound? 2 x 212 cabs. 4x10 cabw/1x115 2x 410 cabs. Or any other combination. I play rock and funk. So I’m wondering what other bassist use live to get a great punchy sound.

There are a lot of choices available. The best approach is to go to some music stores and/or friends and try out different brands and combinations. Depending on your budget, there are Phil Jones, Bergantino, Epifani, Barefaced, Mesa Engineering, GK, etc.
I'm using a GK Fusion 800 210 combo.
If I need more speakers for volume I run an old GK 410MBE neo cab.
I prefer 10s because they are a little brighter, tighter, and punchier to my ear. Great for funk!
But a ton of my friends like 12s. To me they are a little darker.
It's a personal preference. I can dial down 10s and darken them with EQ for rock.

Two 2x12s, or two 4x10s if you can manage them.
Ignore the size of the speakers and concentrate on the sound.
I'm very fond of my current setup, a 500 watt Fender Rumble 2x10 combo with an Ampeg 15 inch extension cab. They complement each other nicely. The Ampeg delivers stronger lows, while the Fender takes care of clean mids and highs.
I have always liked 15" speakers. For me, they seem to work the best for bass, especially in a combo amp.
In the OP's thread title, by "combo", I think he meant "combination", not combo amp.
What's the best shade of blue? We can't match the sound in your mind to any hardware.
Over the years I have been a cab/speaker whore. 1x10,1x12,1x15, 1x18, 2x all, many combinations, folded horns, 8x10, (never a 4x10, don't know why) 3x15. Loved them all.
My next venture could utilize 6.5", or 4" as the amp cab combo cannot exceed 15" high,15" wide,10" deep. It will need to fill a room 11'x8' with bass like sounds at a normal speaking volumes.

Safe bet is stick with manufacturer and same line.
Otherwise phase cancelation of some bass may occur.

If you want to try mismatched combos, try before you buy, listen closely, even measure some lows. Its not always good, but be aware: at first you may think it sounds better just cause it suddenly got louder... later you may realize its muddy.
If you like a midrange focus, eq down low bass (and boost mids) or run a hpf, its primarily bass thats the issue in mixing cabs

I play rock, funk, blues, reggae, top 40 hits and more. I use an Aguilar 700 watt amp and 2 Barefaced 112 cabs. I could sound just as good with 2 Barefaced 210 cabs. The format of the cab is the least important part of the equation.
My favorite was my Epifani UL410, but I can no longer physically lug one around. So now I went modular. I run an Epifani UL210 (under 35 pounds) and UL112 (under 30 pounds). They handle all I can throw at them.

Depends on exactly which of these cabs we’re talking about. Driver size only tells you one thing, the size of the driver.
I’ve been using a nice GK 212 combo for gigs where I need an amp and it sounds nice and punch with a lot of clarity.
