cab issues. farting out / speaker problems ?

Basically check the simple, cheap, easy stuff first. Add cables and the battery in an active bass in there. After all that, then worry about more involved stuff. All the screws in you amp and cab would fall under "simple stuff".

Fnord - I expect the cabs are not stuffed. Like Will sez, I'll check the easy cheap stuff first. It may come to stuffing the cabs, but I think mine are ported (not sealed), and I'm not sure how stuffing will impact a ported cab.

Stuffing won't help in a ported cab; think you're correct that there is a front port under the grill.

Ya, ported cabs get lined, sealed cabs get stuffed.

If your Bass has active circuitry, replace the battery with a new/known fresh battery....you wouldn't believe the rude noises a weak battery can cause/contribute to !

I may have just fixed my cab issue. Tightened all the screws on all speakers and horns. Used a good Craftsman phillips #2 and was careful not to overtighten and strip the wood (I'm an old farm boy, so I can crank 'em down good).

Also, on one of the ports, there was some loose paper that seemed to be partially glued or more likely painted on, and I pulled that out. Left some unpainted part, but that's not a concern at this point and an easy fix.

Cranked it up a ways past where I was having trouble previously, and so far no issues. I will still do a battery test just to make sure.

Same problem for me with the new Rumble 500 head, I have never experienced this before. Being a happy Fender SBM owner, I thought I'd try this new offering from Fender but it was not to be. As far as light weight amps go, I'll stick with Aguilar and GK.

My issue was strictly loose screws holding the speakers in the cabs.
