Is there a chart anywhere that describes the way a room effects a bass cabs low end response based on the position of the cab to the corner/wall? I've been playing with 1"-3' with dramatic results in the sound when close micing the cab with 421, re20, SM7b and SM57.
My issue was that down to Ab was great, and then G down to E almost sounds like it goes up an octave. Moving the cab close to a wall and then turning it into the wall from about 3' really seemed to help even all that out. Pretty strange.
Gear, Fender Jaguar with Antiquities, big muff(mostly direct sound to cab) Fender PA135, Eden 215XLT.
