Ive searched the thread but I havent really found the answer. I know there are a ton of threads on this(but none have really addressed my need). I will make my inquiry very specific.
Im trying to find balance between volume and size/weight. the LMKII is helping my incompetent lower back tremendously. I dont need to go completely light weight, so I can handle a a moderate mid size cab with casters.
I want a mid size cabinet (2x12, 1x15, 4x10) that isnt too monstrous (bulky and/or heavy-can fit in a Camry), but will play with a very loud band. Playing cover tunes (rock, funk, reggae, R&B) up to 300-400 people at most with little or no PA support, to match my Mark Bass LMII.
I want something I can buy off of Musician's Friend, I have credit so price is not really an issue.
No Mark Bass cabs, no 1X12s, no 8x10s, no 4x12s.
I need a good mid size cab that matches the LMKII nicely that can carry the low end...Ive had high fi lightweight cabs like the Epifani UL410 and while they sound great, I dont like they way they hold up in a very loud band situation. Once all the dymanics were drowned out by guitar and drums they just dont have the balls that say an Ampeg 4x10(Heavy!) has. If you were to do a side by side in a store setting the EPI would kill, I wont disgaree with that.
I personally dont think the NeoD speakers hang as well in super loud/No PA support situations as regular magnets. Many gigging bass players in my area would agree as well ( I had a long discussion with Ric Fierrabracci who is a well known "do it all" bassist and he completely agreed with this, and this man has done some serious gigging with almost every brand of gear).
Again think little PA support at most.
Thanks for your assistance/insight.
