Cab survey: Three questions

1) Schroeder 1210. Occasionally tack on 2 Hartke 2.5 xls when necessary, but not very often. Both type of cabs weigh under 50 lbs.
2) Had all 2 years without any problems.
3) Get hard use approx 10 gigs / mo. Do not anticipate speaker probs. Do not recommend messing with anything that is working.

3-My take is that speakers don't change thier sound much.They wear out,blow out,get cut,torn,smashed,etc.

I've used various Eden cabs before the Schroeders.1-18",2-15",2-10",4-10".They all worked great,I replaced blown speakers but that was it.Speaker will just wear out after awhile.Just fix 'em,recone 'em,replace them,and get back to work.That's what I say.

It feels like my ampeg has gotten quieter over the past 2 years or so. It sucks playing against 2 triple rectifiers... We have been jamming at a quieter volume recently, and it is very noticible to the drummer. I still am cranked to be clear through my rig, and its leading me to believe the speakers are hurting. I bought it used about 4 years ago, so i cant trace the exact age. I also dont know of the tweeter still works, as the knob on the back shows no noticible difference in tone.

1) GK SBX115 and SBX410 and 2 x EV TL606, which

2) About 6 months on the GK, 21 years on the EVM15Bs in the EVs (albeit 20 were getting beat really hard as PA cabs).

3) Pretty much forever if they are not abused - unless it has foam surrounds that degrade (which most pro drivers do NOT) there are really no wearout of breakdown parts in a speaker.

Peavey 410TXF and a 115 cab loaded with a Black Widow - been playing both for about a year now... Before that, I played a Combo 300 (15" BW in it) and the same 115 cab, loaded with an EV - after about 10 years of playing in LOUD bands, I finally had to replace a voice coil in the EV - the Combo 300 was still fine when I sold it...

2 Acme B1 cabs. Never found their match in purity of sound.

I did have a rattle coming from a wayward wire inside the cab, but it was easily fixed by me.

I run a Hartke 7000 Through a custom 2x10 cabinet that used to be a fender and a custom 15 cabinet that used to be a hartke.

The reason they are now custom is because i have modified the cabinet themselves. I found the fender crossover to be too harsh, and only a 6db/octave rolloff, so i removed the crossover and unplugged the un-needed tweeter, and installed my own speaker jacks and speaker wire.

This cabinet was used when purchased. I have no issues with the eminence speakers installed, less the fact that they are alpha's and not nicer models such as deltas.

My 15 cabinet, different story. Hartke installs rediculously low power speakers into their cabinets. I had overdriven the suspension of this speaker multiple times in its life, and it never sounded good in the first place. However i never knoticed a deterioration of sound, it had just played its last note for me. I replaced it with a 15" Eminence Delta 15LF. MUCH MUCH BETTER! Now i can shake the room a little more and not have to worry about overdriving the speaker.

NOTE: The hartke actually dented while i was using it once. True story, it was overdriven so hard, it buckled from the suspension limit and dented the aluminum cone. Even under that much stress it never lost its "sound".
