Cabs with unusual driver combinations

And the single folded 18” horn in a 361 might not have been that “unusual”, but those cabs are IMHO still one of the best ( if you have roadies ).

EDIT: To remove plus sign.

The TechAmp Virtue was a wild attempt.

TECAMP VIRTUE BASS SPEAKER CAB - Bass Gear Direct
The “Virtue Cab” was developed in cooperation with world renown LA bassist Sekou Bunch. This new and unique cabinet features 2 x 12 ” and 2 x 10″ speakers, and three differently designed and “voiced” tweeters. The speaker pairs may be switched on of off independently and can be combined for 2-12” and 2-10” simultaneous operation.
Depending on which speaker setting is selected the cabinet may be used as a 2 x 12” (8 ohms) cab, or as a 2 x 10” (8ohms) cab. When used with 2-12” and 2-10”combined the nominal impedance of the cabinet is 4 ohms.
Another highlight of the “Virtue Cab” is the the utilization of three different tweeters. Each tweeter is of a different design and has an “off”, “half” and “full” power switch. These tweeters may be used in any combination, and with any power level desired.

as long as we're at this .. I'd also say the Euphonic Audio Wizzy cabs probably qualify as at least somewhat unusual.
Woofer (12 or 15) with an integrated whizzer cone in the center, in place of the more usual tweeter for highs, in a transmission line cab. Not quite as unusual as the Stanley rig above, but definitely a bit different than usual.

Also, how about the Mesa Walkabout/Scout cabs. 1x12 and 1x15 somewhat small sized (particularly the 12) with a passive radiator design in place of a port.
Again, not wildly unusual, the concept of a passive radiator is not new by any means, but definitely different from most other cabs (I've never seen another passive radiator design bass cab in my long career).

I just noticed that Phil Jones also makes cabs with 7" drivers (C 4x7) ... now that's pretty unusual :)

The PJB 7 inch drivers work really well! (I've two Cab 27s)

Pair of 12/6 cubes.
Also have one of the Acoustic Image ten2. Talk about a great little under 30 lb combo.

600 watts, two channels, effects, two 10” and a large tweet. One ten fires down, one forward. Head can be removed from the docking port. Little kickback folding legs. I love hearing this from the back of a room. It really does an amazing job.

At one point I had a Sunn 2-15 scoop, but no one wanted to help me schlep it.

High-end home audio has the advantage of not having to worry about portability or using space efficiently, so waveguides, horns and transmission lines are more common. It would be fun to have something like Nelson Pass' horn system in my living room if it didn't mean having to take out a couple rooms on the second floor to fit them.

For a sense of scale, the mouths of the front-facing horns are 72 inches tall. The black tubes at the back are 12 foot tall subwoofers. The whole family can enjoy them as long as your toddler doesn't get stuck climbing up inside one.

I’m assuming these are not cheap, which means you can’t afford children, or they’ve grown up and few the coop.

We have two of those peavey 2x15 +2x10 cabs sitting in our rehearsal spot. Have never used them for anything other than speaker stands for more Smaller modern powered pa boxes. Will likely use them as props in a music video though because they look rad. They belong to our singer who works for a production company that’s been In business for decades. If I remember right the two cabs along with this massive peavey mixer and two ridiculously big matching horn cabs were just sitting in their warehouse so they gave them to him for free. If I remember I’ll try to take some pictures of them Saturday
